From inception to completion the progress of the project is recorded in photograghy and in sketch. These record the actual progress on site and the initial impressions of the client’s wishes as the scheme developes.

Study of historical methods of lime production and application, concentrating on renders and finishes in southern India. Thorough research, tests and practical application acheived successful repair to an early 19th century lime flat roof.

Awarded 1994 S.P.A.B. Lethaby travelling scholarship. One of four architects/ surveyors chosen to study in-depth and at close quarters the wide range of traditional techniques used to repair and conserve historic buildings in the British Isles.

Winner of the 1993 Philip Webb Award. A national architectural competition sponsoreed by S.P.A.B. aimed at students interested in the re-use and revitalisation of existing historic buildings.


Scheme for a new Swimming Hall and Ice-Hockey Stadium, Kungalv, Sweden

Awarded 1993 four month study trip to Chalmers University, Gothemburg, Sweden. Emphasis was placed on materials and craftsmanship with practical application.
